Mexico owes the United States water: Donald Trump

According to a message posted on social media by President Donald Trump, Mexico owes the United States water. The full text of the statement is reproduced below:

"Mexico continues to violate our Water Treaty, and this violation is seriously impacting our beautiful crops and livestock in Texas. Mexico still owes the United States more than 800,000 acre-feet of water for failing to comply with the Treaty for the past five years.

The United States needs Mexico to release 200,000 acre-feet of water by December 31, with the remainder due shortly thereafter. So far, Mexico has not responded, which is very unfair to our farmers who desperately need this resource."

For this reason, I have authorized the necessary documentation to impose a 5% tariff on Mexico if the water is not released immediately. The longer Mexico delays compliance, the more our producers will be harmed.

Mexico has an obligation to resolve this situation as soon as possible. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
